that's completely gut ted as is the garage. flames moved up in the attic space. the call came in about 3:40 this morning. i just spoke with the san mateo fire chief out here. he says that the damage is much worse than expected. so, yes, this looks very bad. inside, he says, the damage is very extensive throughout the home because they had to tackle these flames from the inside up, which means they had to tear out the sheet rock to the entire interior of what i'm being told is a three-bedroom home. you mentioned nine people, jon, father, mother and seven children made it out safely on their very own before the firefighters made it here. they got here, were able to escape the flames. san mateo fire chief told me when they got the call at 3:40 and arrived on scene and saw these flames, they were able to knock down the flames quickly, despite the very windy conditions out
